Continuing to exercise , continuing to work on my nutrition, as well as my emotional and spiritual health has been exhausting!!!! Not only is the effort to do all of this exhausting, but as my energy levels pick up and my stamina improves I manage to think I should be able to do more than I can. Well, today was NOT one of those days. Today was the day that I got to bask in the wonder of all that has transformed my life.
Today we did the Junior Olympics.
It did not go the way I had planned.
It was much more work on much less sleep than I would normally attempt to do something like this.
But it was a BLAST!!!!!
We had 3 teams made up of children of all ages. They all participated as a team, and in the end everyone go Gold Medals. We did relays, we popped balloons, we squeezed sponges full of water. We cheered each child as he or she did their best. We ended with a game where each of the team captains wore a shower cap covered in shaving cream and their team got to throw cheese curls at them to see which team could get the most stuck on their captain’s head.
I was able to keep up with the kids. I got involved and interacted with parents and kids alike. I problem-solved on the fly.
I was NOT a wall-flower, I did NOT sit on the side lines, I was NOT self-conscious about anything today.
In the end I even let the 3 girls who had planned this whole thing with me give me a big shaving cream hug. I was so proud of the girls – they led their teams with compassion and joy regardless of who came in first.
We are within 2.5 months of that big reunion that started this whole exercise endeavour. I am well on my way to being where I wanted to be at the end…….
